Talking Hamster safe paint

Hello! I recently started to make some DIY hamster playgrounds, but i really would need some advice on hamster safe paint. Do you know any brand that has it? Thank you!

Safe paint would be soy or milk(casein, aka milk protein)based.Anything that doesn't state what it is made of should never be used, even if some people have used it.Just because it claims to be nontoxic does not mean it truly is nontoxic to hamsters,as hamsters and humans are extremely different in terms of what is toxic and what is nontoxic to them compared to humans.

What country are you in so that we are able to suggest some brands and possible stockists?

I've always used a craft paint called Plastikote which is available in a range of colours. I'm not sure if it's available worldwide but you'll need to make sure you buy the water based one (it'll say so on the tub if it is). I've also seen Cuprinol's Garden Shades recommended before and the packaging does state that this is also water based.

Like said above, any milk, soy, or water based paints will work well for hamsters as fluffagrams mentioned, knowing your country will help us recommend brands! Things like plastikote are very difficult to find in the US (the only one readily available is for automotive and isn't safe unfortunately) so it really isn't practical to search all about for them! Have you also considered dyeing things? You can easily make dye out of fruits and water

Watered down natural food colouring works for painting as a last resort. It stains it and it does look rather nice.

I use Cuprinol Garden Shades for painting as they only cost a pound or two and are waterproof. You can get them in the gardening section of DIY stores or at a garden centre.

Good luck with the hamster playgrounds . Please share photos as it may inspire someone else.

ErinsAnimals has a good tutorial on this. Here's a link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U8q5B_grqI0
