How to paint mesh/bars? / Plastikote Spray?
Painting large areas of mesh or bars would be very difficult with a brush on paint and would leave clumps, so a spray is needed.
Online, it says that the aerosol project enamel is safe for use on children's toys, same as the brush-on project enamel, though the other sprays Plastikote make are not.
However, when I looked at the bottles in store, it did not say this, it just had the same warnings as all the other sprays, including that it is toxic to aquatic life. Have they changed the formula or something?
Can you recommend anything else to paint mesh with?
(It's for a mesh roof I want to make white, it may be within chewing reach)

Honestly I can't think of anything that would be safe. You probably will have to leave the bars plain,so that the health and safety of your hamster is not compromised.

Re: How to paint mesh/bars? / Plastikote Spray?
The bars on Syrian show pens are painted with some kind of white paint so it's certainly possible. Unfortunately I don't know what they use as I don't show Syrians but it might be worth asking someone who does to see what they suggest.

Thanks, show pens seem to use "non-toxic, lead free gloss paint" which probably excludes sprays.
I found that using a sponge or roller with the brush-on enamel works without clumping, though it's taking a long time ^^'

That does sound time consuming. I would love all my hamster cages to have white bars. Hope it goes well for you.
Love your youtube channel btw.

Have a look at automotive water based paints they don't have the chemicals in them such as cellulose.
Or you could get the mesh powder coated this is non toxic and is very very durable...
