Default Glue for popsicle sticks?

I've bought a whole bunch of popsicle sticks to make Buzz a house and a ladder, but I don't know what type of glue to use. I'm assuming that flour-water glue that I've used in the past wouldn't work since popsicle sticks can be difficult to glue together. I don't know what type of non toxic glue I can use that will be strong enough. What type of glue would you recommend? Would a PVA glue stick suffice?

I bought some PVA the other day - it says non toxic on the front so am hoping it is ok! You can get it in most craft places, places like WHS Smith etc. Some supermarkets do it too - it is usually with the children's craft And it dries clear too so you won't see it after!

I don't have any in the house so I'll go buy some this week/weekend. Thank you for the info!

Sorry, that was meant to be WH Smith, not WHS Smith! This is the one I got WHSmith Multi-Purpose PVA Glue - Stationery | WHSmith - I think it comes in different sizes?
