Re: vivarium?
Hey guys. Wintrow is now living the dream in his vivarium! We weren't able to cut windows for vents or mesh as we don't have the right tools... so instead I drilled lots of rather wonky holes in each side. With the three vents in the back as well I think it should be ventilated enough. please excuse my dog she wouldn't move out of the way for a photo!

Re: vivarium?
It looks amazing! I do think it needs a bit more ventilation though, from the photo. Could you borrow a jigsaw from someone and cut a piece out of each wood end to fix a vent in? Or take the back off and mesh it?

I think the ventilation should be ok... there's two full rows of holes each side, and the back panel has three vents on plus the gap between the doors. I was watching Wintrow on my cctv camera last night and he was running like a maniac on his wheel through most of the night. Would there be obvious signs if the ventilation wasn't enough? It doesn't feel stuffy inside when I stick my hand in or anything.

Re: vivarium?
It does look nice, there's a lot of air in there for a tiny ham so I would imagine your ventilation is adequate! You'd notice damp building up a bit if it wasn't but is sounds ok.
The only suggestion I would make is if you could do something with maybe bendy bridges or something along the front to make the substrate deeper without it all falling out when you open the doors, it doesn't look all that deep for a chinese, they do so love to burrow!
They love to climb too so with all that space maybe you could find some safe toys to climb on or maybe even find a way to hang hammocks or something, so much potential in there, lucky ham

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for damp bedding. Hopefully at some point we'll get some perspex or something so we can deepen the bedding. He's got some hammocks to go in from his bin cage - just need to get some hooks today so I can hang them. I think I better get a lock too so he can't escape!

Re: vivarium?
I use a similar viv. I changed the vents from plastic to metal. Got them off amazon for no more than £2 odd each.
I used a jigsaw to cute a hole in the top for mesh. Almost full length of top of the tank.

Re: vivarium?
It does sound like a good idea to have more ventilation. Even with through air flow it could get quite hot in summer.
