Squeaky Wheel Fix?
Hello all! My hamster's wheel is super duper squeaky, to the point where it wakes me up in the middle of the night. It's a super simple wheel to disassemble; it breaks down into two pieces. How do you keep the squeak of your wheels down to a quiet level? Thanks in advance!

I've heard olive or coconut oil works, but I can definitely recommend upgrading to a silent runner, it is about four pieces and does come apart for cleaning and the only thing I noticed when testing it during playtime was the sound of his feet.

What model or brand is your wheel? Each one has different tricks. But usually, a drop of vegetable oil in the precisa point works

The wheel is a Crittertrail attachment wheel that I've rigged into my bin cage. I cut a slot about half an inch wide to attach it. I have a silent spinner as well, (I like to have two wheels in my ham's cage because he's super active), but my ham is a little too big for it now. I'm waiting for an upgrade to a bigger one right now.

I've oiled the wheel with vegetable oil today, and I'll see how it works overnight!

Re: Squeaky Wheel Fix?
I have experience the sqeekie wheel problem with my mice. After trying everything, including oil, I realized it is the little spots where the wheel two parts join together that make the noise. So I took a drop of safe Elmer's clear glue and put it in each of those 3 connectors. Wheel runs quietly then. Of course, be sure the glue is dry before putting it in the cage. If you wash the wheel a lot, it will eventually have to be done again. My mice run 4 wheels all night and I sleep peacefully.

Re: Squeaky Wheel Fix?
I use vegetable oil once a week on mine, playpen & cage wheels, no squeaks since I started! x

Yep. Vegetable oil on mine (silent spinner) and it stays quiet. The wheel is a month old and Sophie seems to be able to make it move just fine.

Re: Squeaky Wheel Fix?
Just simply apply some oil where the friction is occurring!
