Default Food Dye for a DIY Castle?

Hi everyone!

I recently decided to make my hamster a castle out of cardboard, tissue paper, and water and flour.

I added a single drop of pink food dye (the kind that you would eat yourself), as I could not find any soy or plant based dyes! I used this "color" for the whole project. Should this be fine, as I made sure I used as little as possible? I doubt that Kornelia will chew the structure, but I wanted to be sure!

I made a castle the same as yours out of water and flour, and some blue food colouring to paint it. He has had the castle in is cage for a while now and regularly chews it without any problems. So I'm sure your ham will be fine!

I'm not sure about the US, but in the UK you can buy "natural" food dye which is only made from natural ingredients. In fact, it's the only kind the supermarkets sell nowadays

Huh. I wish the US had that, as I doubt it very much.

If it's a natural one then it won't cause any harm

Although I'm in the UK, I once made a vegetable dye for a tp house I made. For the reddy-pink colour I wanted I blended some beetroot, added a bit of flour to thicken it up and had a ready-made hamster-safe paint that cost me 50p
