Default Vegetable Based Dye brands?

Does anyone know of any vegetable based dye brands (or whatever is safe for use in hamster cages), preferably ones that are available in Japan? I want to make some of my hamster's toys myself and need something safe to paint them with. Thanks!

Hi I'm not sure if it will be available in Japan but I recently used Garden Shades by Cuprinol. Great choice of colours and I've tried and tested it and my Bailey has been fine.

You can also easily make some yourself by using veggies that have the color you want. There are some tutorials for that on youtube.

Have you seen soy paint? It's a great option for more opaque colours, however it can be pricey. I recently (7 hours ago) invested in natural food colouring for painting. I haven't tried them out yet, though. Like others have said, you could try the Cuprinol Shades (don't know if you can get them in Japan?) or make veggie paint. ErinsAnimals' has an excellent tutorial from about 2 years ago. I highly recommend subscribing to her as she has some amazing pet care videos on YouTube.

For other people reading this thread, I got my natural food colouring at 1 a bottle from Waitrose. I have red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink and black. I believe that is all the colours they stock. Also, it's Waitrose own brand food colouring from the baking section.

I think it is something to be a bit careful with. I'd have thought paint for children's toys would be ok, but best to read the label. It would need to be water based. In the Uk you can get water based plastikote waterproofing paint for wood, that comes in different colours, which is what most people on here use on wood items in the cage.

I don't know if it would be available in Tokyo though. Is Mark's Tokyo edge based in Tokyo?! It's a stationery shop that sells plastikote apparently.

Anyway this is the stuff

I've never heard of Mark's Tokyo Edge, but then I haven't heard of everything.

I'll see if I can get my hands on one of the things you guys recommended. Thanks for the help.
