Popsicle platform
I was having an idea about having a platform made out of popsicle sticks. My hammy would love that. She loves to climb! But how would I attach the sticks together to make the platform? Help!

Re: Popsicle platform
Hello Scargirl. You can use Gorilla Glue. It is non-toxic and it is what I use with popsicle creations. Welcome to Hamster Central.

Re: Popsicle platform
Hi Scargirl, as well as the Gorilla Glue that DrKMck suggested, ordinary PVA glue (or school glue as it is often known by, certainly in the UK,) is safe for our fluffs. Both the Gorilla Glue and PVA glue are used by many people on here for their DIY projects. Both are easily available from stationary shops and DIY stores, as well as large supermakets if you are in the UK.
If you want to colour it, then the enamel, water-based Plastikote spray or brush on paint is non toxic.
Have fun creating your platform, looking forward to seeing it

Re: Popsicle platform
I wouldn't recommend it, you can make home made glue but it probably wouldn't be strong enough & you don't want your platform collapsing with your ham on it! It's usually made with things like flour or potato starch so there's a chance it might get mouldy which you really don't want or it might even encourage your hams to chew it!
I'd stick with plain cheap PVA glue.

Re: Popsicle platform
Hey I know that it is a little late in this thread, but you talked about making a popsicle stick kind of upper level, correct? I can help but I just have a few questions. Does your hamster chew a lot? What are the dimensions of their cage? Do they have plenty of chews in their cage? I only ask because I have been able to use a hot glue gun with non-toxic glue sticks to make one for my syrian, Arabella. She climbs under it, through it, over it, she really likes to sit up there and eat. (Before she used to grab a lot of food and bring it back to the house she has.) So I can show you pictures if you would like and tell you the details on building it too.

Sorry. Didn't tell you anything
Q: You talked about making a popsicle stick kind of upper level, correct?
A: I was going to make it like a hanging platform but now that her cage is only one story then, yes. That is a much better option
Q: Does your hamster chew a lot?
A: She used to, since her old cage was small, she chewed the bars. But now, she doesn't.
Q: What are the dimensions of their cage?
A: The dimensions are: 25 inches wide, 12.5 inches in depth, 12.5 inches tall.
Q: Do they have plenty of chews in their cage?
A: Yes. She has one of the Boredom Breaker toys, she has an edible stick, she has a pumice chew, and she gets a seed stick every Christmas.
I have a glue gun with nontoxic glue. Can you give me a picture, and tell me how to make it? I think she kinda misses having a second story to climb on and fling herself off of
