Default Two easy and safe toys to make

Hey i just wanted to share these toy ideas with everyone on the forum. I'm not sure if anything like this has been done before but regardless thought I'd share.

Treat Toy:

What you need:
2/3 pieces of paper
Hamster safe string
Hamster safe treats
Scissors (optional)
The ability to plait/braid (like you would hair)

Instructions:

1. Keep the sheets of paper together and either cut or rip it into three fairly even strips (i prefer to rip but you can do either)

2. Scrunch and twist the paper so you have something similar to to the attached picture at the bottom of the page. Do this to all three strips of paper

3. Take the now scrunched up paper and line them up side by side. Next take a piece of string (you shouldn't need much) and tie it around the top of the paper. This shouldn't be too hard but can be a bit fiddly.(see pic below)

(This is where it gets fiddly.)

4. Very gently start plaiting/braiding the pieces of paper (the plaited/braided parts of paper will probably start curling inwards, to stop this i bend it gently backwards). Continue this until you cant plait/braid anymore. Tie more string at the bottom to hold it all together.

5. Push treats into the gaps/crevices and give it to your hamster/s to get the treats out.

Chew Toy

What you need:
Cardboard (ideally corrugated)
Scissors
A blade/Stanley knife (optional, it just makes getting rid of unnecessary bits of cardboard easier)
A template (cups, cookie cutter, anything you can draw around basically)

Instructions:

1. Draw around the template on the cardboard, do this twice so you have 2 identical shapes

2. Cut them out and cut a slit down to the middle of each template. Make sure the slit is big enough so the templates slot easily together.

3. Slot the two together and you're done. Give to your hams and see what they think.
(I couldn't attach a pic of mine slotted together but the pic should give you an idea about the slots)

I hope this helps/ inspires someone

*also i apologize for the way the pics are attached, i don't have a photo bucket account and don't want one either tbh

Aw I couldn't see the video - it said it was private

But I love the toys you made - I think it's really satisfying to be able to make things yourself for your pets. I'm going to have a go at the plaited paper one at the weekend!
