Background Image for a Detolf
Hello!
I'm super excited at the moment because next week I am getting my Detolf glass case delivered for my little Tufty to use as a cage. I've got most things set up and all plans in motion to make him a nice natural themed tank (with the ulterior motive to have some attractive decoration in my living room) but there's one thing I'm stuck on...
What do I use for a nice background piece on the glass?
I thought about keeping it clear but I'd rather have a nice natural vista or something. Now, I've already spent a lot of money on this project so affordability is key at this point. I looked at some of the reptile habitat pieces but most are awfully rocky or jungle themed which, although I'm probably being picky, doesn't seem right for the theme I'm setting out for.
Anyway, long post coming to a close, does anyone have any suggestions of examples that I could get some inspiration from?
Thanks!

Re: Background Image for a Detolf
I use aquarium backgrounds for some of my rodent vivarium tanks. It's plastic and comes rolled up. I stick it on the outside of the tank using sticky tape around the edges. That way the rodent doesn't have access to it so it is safe and remains unchewed. I would never use it on the inside of a rodent tank, but then I would also never use a polystyrene reptile background inside a rodent tank either
You can see some of the background in this photo:

I got it from Amazon:

Re: Background Image for a Detolf
I use the same as Vectis - Clearview is the make that I have and see most frequently. Most pet shops sell it now in a variety of depths and images. As it is on a roll, you'll be able to get a long strip for the Detolf. It's good quality image and makes such a difference. It's double sided, so depending on the two images you can change it for different hamsters.
You can see the variety of images at Seapets:-

Re: Background Image for a Detolf
Oh wow! I didn't realise they came on a roll like that. They look great actually, much better than the other things I found.
And yeah, I didn't much like the thought of having something inside the cage, could see it chewed and destroyed and just a general safety hazard lol
Thanks for the ideas! Now to go shopping once more :P
