Default DIY (Ish!) Hamster Cage

So, I recently purchased a Habitrail ovo dwarf hamster habitat and was really pleased with my buy, however, it's just too small. I was going to wait until Christmas to buy another two, but then all of a sudden, this thought came to me;

Why am I waiting to spend £50+ on another couple hamster cages when I've already got a spare cage that works perfectly well?

And so, I rebuilt my Habitrail and attached it through the roof of my old cage to make a fun, modern new cage that's well within the size limits. I rearranged my room so that there's now room for my Christmas tree in the corner, where the hamster cage was (huzzah!) and so that there's also room for a new cage for a new hamster after Christmas (double huzzah!). Was looking at this cage for a Chinese/Syrian/two robos, any thoughts? Skyline Tilo 100 1506 Rodent Cage: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

Anyway, so poor Puff has had to move cage twice this week! Bless her! She had a fantastic little explore though, and a good little run around. She's such a great climber and seems to love the tubes!

Tadaaaaa! Sorry for the annoying light reflection; my window is huge! Thanks for the read, if you've got any tips/advice, they would be much appreciated.

its a nice idea might be a thought as to who easy is it for you to get the hamster out of the black bottom cage, and is there any way of making that tube less straight up and down so it makes it easier for the hamster, but good on you for initiative,

The tilo is great, the only catch is that you can go too big for pairs as well as too small and its impossible to know whats best without knowing the personalities of the hams involved

Your joining of the two cages was a good idea too

Polar - To get into the black bottom cage, I just have to unscrew one of the Habitrail clips and then I can take the whole of the clear plastic lid off As for the tubes, this was the thing I considered most. The problem is, with Habitrail, you can only have it vertical or horizontal, and if I'd have had it horizontal then it would have had to have gone through the base, meaning I'd have somehow had to cut through plastic and the other pods/tubes wouldn't have been able to be attached. I also chose this particular design because Puff is a very keen climber. She is able to climb from my feet to my shoulders when I'm stood straight up, without any help! Thanks though!

Kyrilliondaemon - That's a fair point! Who knows! I'll just have to pick one and see. Why thank you!

I LOVE the Tilo cage - I want one! That's a good point though about not knowing whether a pair of dwarfs will co-exist together in one cage until you have them. I think it would be perfect for a syrian though!
