Default Background

Hey guys...

Ian has inspired me to make Sarahs cage forest themed. So i went on ebay and found one that looks kinda - ish like forest, only one that looks like forest.

Vivarium / Aquarium Natural Mystic Background 24" Tall Poster Fish Tank Picture | eBay

So i ordered it.

But the problem is that Sarahs bin cage doesn't have flat sides. Anyone have any ideas how to stick it on?

Do i stick it on the inside or outside?

What do i stick it with.

And yes Sarah and Jenny will be getting new cages. But because im moving house soon i don't want to stress her too much. So their gonna get new cages at the end of August or middle September.

I have no sticking suggestions, however, I take your rocks and twigs, and raise you:
This
This..
Or This

I haven't checked the sizes, but most sellers do all varieties in all sizes, so, I guess you could pick the size that suits.

Oh, wait, I just saw, you ordered already... oops.

I just use clear tape, like what you use for wrapping gifts. Have fun decorating!

Dave, I like that background. Looks like a natural habitat.

If the cages are clear, they could be placed on the outside with thin strips of double sided tape around the edges. Double sided carpet tape sticks to plastic really well as I found out when I first used it, but you have to do it very carefully so you dont trap any air bubbles. Sort of roll it on from one side to the other and have someone help if the surface is curved / shaped a bit, as it is easier with two people holding the corners and pulling / attempting to stretch the sheet.

Spyro, the second link is the same as what it on hte back of the background in Screeches cage. That side is gloss and the desert side is a silky shine.

I was looking on ebay for some inspiration and went through the reptile section and looked at the hollow rocks (plastic ones). I had one which my leopard gecko lived in and if you were to have a couple of them and paint them dark grey colours (with shading in lack to match the background), and place infront of the background, they would blend in and make the cage look like it was going further back than it was.
I also looked at a slate cave, but unsure because slates have sharp edges.

Thanks for your help Ian, I don't have any double sided tape but i will buy some.

I think a cave would look in it. If i find a gray one i could then buy some fake moss and partially cover it to make it look like it's abandoned/in a forest.

I also ordered 40 fake plastic trees, 7.5cm tall from China. Put some around her house etc.

for a cave covered in moss, have a look in the aquarium part in ebay. Fish tanks have caves and moss, either real or fake. Or, for moss, modellers use flock. It is like the brushings off a snooker table and it is glued on with pva. Paint the pva where you want the moss and drop the flock on it and press. A bit like a kid with glitter (oooh I hate glitter). When the glue dries, it is clear and it looks like moss.
Just a thought.

I like the flock idea. Is it something like this:Javis Dark Green 50g Scatter / Flock - Railway - Warhammer - Wargame - Scenery | eBay

And how do you paint pva?

Other interesting things i found:

That looks so cute: Aquarium Plastic Plant Cave Ornament Moss for Fish Tank - 3 Colours and 2 Sizes | eBay

The trees that I'm going to order: S7828 40pcs Model Pine Trees Deep Green For TT HO Scale Layout 78mm New | eBay

The moss i was talking about: model scenery, Moss, Diorama, Model Kits, Railway Sets, Tanks, Camouflage, Trees | eBay
