Talking Starting a new DIY cage for casper :)

So i recently bought 2 ikea samla boxes from ebay for £21 EACH, I couldn't get them direct from ikea as they don't deliver . One of the boxes has cracks on each 4 corners as the selller only sellotape the lids to the boxes and no packaging. Good thing they are to the top so wee casper can't hurt himself.

I wanted to get the ikea boxes first but couldn't find them so had to settle for the 110l boxes. I hope this time around when making it i don't burn the skin off my fingers lol

I have bought more ikea knuffs they should arrive on thurs but in the meantime i can get the lids meshed using old cage parts this time as i find the mesh tends to sink in the middle so i shouldn't get big cuts this time

Started it early spent good 3 hours at it and my heads booming lol but it's worth it,

here's what i done so far

I used a iron to cut out the holes for the ventilation.I first melted the plastic all around in small holes

This made it easier to cut out the plastic i just moved the iron slowly down took awhile, just over an hour for the first

Quite proud i done both the lids tonight i thought i only be able to do one

Hopefully tomorrow his coloured tape will come and i can do that while waiting on his knuff to come.

As I am also in the midst of creating a bin home I also enjoy following these threads. It's interesting to see the different ways we all get to more or less the same result & there's some great inspiration. I do like the decorative tapes people use. Wonder if you can get one with hamsters on!!

This looks great so far. I really like the DIY bin cages for hamsters - I spent a lot of time looking at these threads for inspiration when I was making mine!

Latest update, have now got the holes for the tubes to connect both boxes and have added some tape to the sides and bottom and put some stars on it, added the knuffs last week. Also made a lame attempt at making him a name tag lol
