Tubes to connect two bins?
Looking for some DIY advice as am planning to make a tub cage for a (hopefully) soon to be acquired hammy. Thinking of stacking two tubs - one tall one (with a mesh top) as a play/cafe area, (has to be deep enough for a decent size wheel for a Syrian) with a lower shallower tub (with mesh panel for ventilation) for sleeping, burrowing, toilet etc. Rather than cut through the upper floor to make a vertical way through from one tub to the other the idea I have is to connect the two with a tube coming out of the side of the upper box & slanting diagonally before entering the side of the lower box (gentle slope so hammy can run up & down easily). I'm struggling with sourcing suitable tubes & would welcome ideas. I see lots of Rotastak cages with the sort I want but where do I buy just the tubes - can you get "kits" that you can slot together how you want? I have no problem with making the right size holes in the tub but also will need some sort of detachable seal/rings whatever so I can take the tubs apart for cleaning & that will make it tougher for hammy to just eat the ends of the tubes. Expect I'll have to regularly replace if I get a chewer!
In the past I had shop bought wire cages but these new tubs are so much more creative & from looking at all the wonderful ones I have seen on this forum that people have made are so much more interesting places for hammies to call home!

Re: Tubes to connect two bins?
What about ferplast tubes?
You can buy these on e-bay etc as well as the connectors and the plates if you needed them too.

Re: Tubes to connect two bins?
I made something similar to this when I first got my Syrian, Darwin. I found that the best tubes to use are the Habitrail Ovo tubes. They are large tubes (good for Syrians) and they have great removable seals on the ends! . You can buy just the tubes on ebay and amazon.

Re: Tubes to connect two bins?
I like the ferplast tubes too. Keep an eye on gumtree & preloved as well. I think the Laura & Paula have tubes that exit the cage & go back in again, so you may be able to pick up a 2nd hand cage that has a load of tubes & a couple of plates & stoppers. You could then discard the cage or keep it for a travel/cleaning out cage.
