Detolf For Dwarf Campbells?
A breeder near me has some pure, pedigree Dwarf Campbell hamsters available. I am getting the Ikea Detolf, there is no two ways about it, but as this is such a large living space. Would a same sex female pair fight? Obviously it goes without saying there would be 2 of everything. The Detolf is easy to divide as well, but I would like them to naturally get along.
I asked the breeder and it is actually her 4th litter and she said it would be best to ask more experienced people of forums, like on this forum. Her previous litters have been of a high standard though.
Thanks!
Note: Please don't comment your experiences and thoughts, if you have either Winter Whites or Hybrids, even though they are classed as Russian Hamsters, the Dwarf Campbell has different genetics and DNA, so will therefore have different traits.

Re: Detolf For Dwarf Campbells?
I'm not 100% sure on what and ikea detolf is as I strictly use tanks. But, I've had many pairs of gals, it generally works in my experience, I actually have 2 pairs as of right now Oh and I raise pure Cambells.

It is a tank cage. It is just a glass cabinet turned onto its side, it is an extremely popular cage. It measures around 165cm x 43cm. What do you think?... For a pair of gals

This on its side? If so, it looks fine, just be ready to separate if they fall out

Your cage has an attractive set up, pets4life. I'd advise making a lid before you put your hams in it though as the little hill area is rather close to the top of the tank.

Re: Detolf For Dwarf Campbells?
There's a good chance of them staying together, especially if they're almost the same size. That looks perfect for a Campbell's pair, I would use that cage
I never really look at other cages as I love my tanks, haha!

Sorry If It Is A Bit Confusing. That is not my cage, its an image of the cage I will be using from the internet. In a cage this big, obvs you need 2 of everything, but what tips would you give for housing multiple campbells. And I would not have that much substrate, so a lid would not be necessary as the cage itself is quite high! But now you and Colby have said that I may make my cage like this!

Re: Detolf For Dwarf Campbells?
For the record in over two years researching hams I've found that as far as keeping pairs/groups go the lessons learnt with one species carry over very strongly to the other species.

What do you think about keeping a pair of Female DC in the Ikea Detolf(163cmx45cm)? Do you think they would fight?
