Re: Hamster costumes?
hi,
I personally wouldn't recommend making costumes for hamsters because it is uncomfortable and very hard to get to them!! If you must do it makesure not to keep it on hammy to long!

Plus, they might try to eat it, so please be very careful about the material you use. Tissue paper might be all right.

Re: Hamster costumes?
Yeah, I'd say to skip the whole costume thing altogether. Hams don't really like to wear clothes, plus it'd stress them out really bad trying to put an outfit/costume on them. They would also stress and fuss and immediately try to remove the offending item(s) as they would feel confined, encumbered and vulnerable in them. They much prefer to wear their own fur and I must say, they look simply adorable as is.

Re: Hamster costumes?
They don't wear clothes for a reason They could suffocate, eat, or get stuck in their costume! :/ Maybe decorate there cage with halloween-y stuff like trick or treat plastic pots or ash trays halloween themed...they can be great!

Re: Hamster costumes?
Funny, I was thinking the same thing today. It is tough to try and make it safe for them. What about setting up a cute background to take pictures of him in front of? Or just make a hat to set on him, that is light. Perhaps out of paper and safe markers? Of course, only supervised for a picture or two.

Re: Hamster costumes?
I don`t like to be a party pooper, but dressing up animals is humanising them. A hamster with a hat on for a few moments to get a photo opportunity seems fun to us, but the hamster won`t be thinking the same. Some hamster could well be stressed by such behaviour and react by biting the owner.
Try not to be drawn too much into holiday celebrations when it means adding to the already mad cap world that is humanising pets. Placing a fun object near a hamster to sit beside or the hamster rummaging in something like an up-sided tea cup or gift box is fine, but not being dressed up in silly costumes.
