If I`m honest, I wouldn`t risk it. Claws can get caught up in wool quite easily (hence the wool bedding issues) so the thinner fibres within the wood can easily catch a claw and the last thing you want is a dangling hamster with it`s leg or foot caught. I contemplated using fleece if and when I get a Chinese hamster, but I`ve decided against it now unless the fleece is played on during playtimes only while I can monitor what the hamster is doing. But I wouldn`t risk using it unsupervised inside the cage. x
