Default Making a wooden platform

I was wondering where in the UK I can buy the materials to make a wooden platform?

I have been looking on the B&Q and Homebase websites but all their boards etc seem to be MDF and chipboard.

I only want to do something simple, looking for a square/rectangular piece of wood and dowels or other pieces of wood for legs.

A lot of people have been 'hacking' Ikea stuff into platforms for their hamsters. The Knuff magazine files are good. All you have to do is lie it on its side and attach a ladder/steps up to it. Some people also remove one of the big sides so it is open to the bedding underneath.

Also the BEKVÄM spice rack just has to be turned upside down to become a shelf. However it is a bit narrow.

You can leave either of these as plain wood or plasticote them so they are easier to clean

Or you could try a local bargain shop for a wooden chopping board.
