ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
We are planning to mesh the zoozone 2 that we got soon, has anyone got any tips so that we don't end up cutting ourselves more than the mesh? We'll get the mesh from wickes, think it's 6mm??

Wear a long sleeved thick top. It was last August when I meshed my zoozone1 and had a sleeveless top on and still have scarred arms.

Re: ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
I used that exact mesh with my mum. It's quite sharp but I don't think it's as sharp as the 1cm one.
- It was easier to cut with wire cutters than scissors, although I did manage to cut it into an approximate shape with scissors first (this was before I got the wire cutters).
- We filed the edge afterwards - on the balcony because of bits.
- Just take your time and bend it away from you when you're cutting it.
- We needed 50 cable ties (lol!). This was so it didn't pouch up.

Re: ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
Ive mastered this meshing lark I do it bare handed and get only like a tiny cut on my fingers usually with a few goes it becomes easy. I have used that 6mm mesh and found it easier and less cutty than 12mm mesh.

Re: ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
I am thinking of trying to do the bins for my Patches and any new hammies I get in the Spring. Reading these types of threads helps me a whole lot. I garden a lot so I have several pairs of heavy duty gardening gloves. I have a feeling they'll be helpful with the meshing. Sigh.

I've just ordered some 'cut to size' perspex for the top of my ZZ2 It's relatively cheap too. I'll find out the online company if anyone wants to order

Re: ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
I found it a lot easier to cut with a good, strong pair of scissors actually. The wire cutters had a thicker blade so it was harder to be accurate. And I only used about 12 cable ties. I was astonished by how easy it was
Will you be drilling holes in the Perspex, Lucy? You don't want it to get too hot inside in the summer

I didn't think of drilling holes in but I most certainly will. Good thought!

Re: ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
I managed to cut my 6mm mesh last night with a pair of normal household scissors
Also once it's cut to size, you can duct tape the edge to stop the sharp bits from poking you and just bodge holes in it for cable ties. It's what I did anyway

Re: ZZ2- Meshing and ideas??
My advice - Get someone competent to do it instead of you
My OH cuts all of our mesh because he's a lot safer with it than me lol. Recently he almost single-handedly meshed the Aurora... I put things in the Aurora and its me with cuts from the mesh lol
