Bunny Cage to Hamster Cage
Hi everyone, I am in the process of turning my moms old bunny cage into a hamster cage! It's approximately 5 foot by 2 foot if not bigger. The wire on the cage was large enough for a hamster to squeeze through so I went through the process of covering it with wire mesh, however, I'm worried the holes in my mesh are a bit small. Does anyone know what size wire mesh is normally used for this? I have a Syrian hamster whose pretty tiny.
I also wanted to make a diy second level in the cage. If anyone has any tutorials or methods they recommend please let me know!

Re: Bunny Cage to Hamster Cage
i believe for wire mesh you want around 1/4-1/2 inch mesh. better to be too small than too big. for a secon level, hamsters don necessarily need levels, but if you want to add a bit of height, you can try sloping bedding, or using an ikea Knuff magazine holder on it's side with the bottom cut off as a shelf/hide. you don't want anything too high that your hamster can fall off of.
