computer desk fence?
I just thought of something. I like to let my hamster run around my computer desk, its a small space. But what about putting one of those superpet playpens around the desk so he won't fall off. Does anyone like this idea or has tried it. Thanks,

Re: computer desk fence?
I was going to tape it or something so it could not fall or move. But where the hamster cant get to the tape. Just a thought, I don't have playpen yet. I want to get the superpet playpen that you can connect the tubes too. But I wonder if the habitrail mini tubes will fit it?

Re: computer desk fence?
Just to warn you - All species can get out of those SAM (and lookalike) playpens. Our syrian tends to wonder why we even tried, our robo Whizz loves to un-robo-proof them, and our russians need them russian proofed or they'd be out.
I'd also expect Chinese to need it hamster-proofed since they should be able to escape anything our russians can.
If you had a playpen that was secure enough for the hamster and could tape it up safely I don't see the harm in using it for keeping the ham on your desk, but you might find thick-ish cardboard would work more easily for the same job.

Re: computer desk fence?
I know and would never leave them unsupervised. As I have a dog and a cat that are very curious about the little guy, that's also why I ordered a better cage(and bigger one). I just want to safely socialize with my hamster while I'm at the computer desk, and not have him fall over the edge. Of course I would have to watch him b/c he could still get off the desk by the keyboard side.

Re: computer desk fence?
Yea, my muffins figured out in at most 10 mins how to get out, i gave up using it. It was then used to make ventilation for his bin cage... which is now needing changed again because of bititng xD. They are good as such just hammy's dont seem to like them often.

Re: computer desk fence?
To be fair six of ours like them. Muffin gets unnerved by all the space (don't ask me - she lives in a ZZ2 and the run we set up isn't much bigger lol), Scamp hates them and climbs out if she can or sulks if we syrian-proofed it properly, but the others all like them. We just have to russian-proof or robo-proof first lol
Could be good for safely socialising though
