Default red lights and hamsters

I have read somewhere
hamsters cant see red light
I am wondering as i will be re-making my bin lid soon, solid wood with 3 panels of mesh on the top, as there is No Possible Way of her ever reaching them would it be ok to put red bike lights on the lid?
This way I can watch her later in the night acting normally. I might add some white for when my light is on, as her cage would be dark having the wooden lid?
I wont keep them on all night, they would be sealed so she cant get in to them?

Is this a terribly silly idea? Or is it ok to do?
I dont want to stress my baby out, but I need to re-make the lid as I have a better way to do it.
Thank you for the advice
yaz

To be honest if there is no way that they can reach the lights to chew or brake them then I dont see any reason why it isnt a good idea I might even try this myself for my robos cages since I never get to see them in the daytime and yes that is true that they cant see red light so I doubt they would even notice them.

They can't see red light. I tried it on Luppi ages ago and he didn't notice me watching him. Felt creepy on my part but it didn't bother him at all.

sorry for the delay didnt see the replys!

Im thinking of cheepish bike lights, so the batteries are secure inside, and they can just clip on and off the mesh. red lights are easer then white as some are blue green or yellow lol.

I thought it would be nice to watch her, sometimes when I get in from work and turn the light on she thinks its the sun and goes to bed!
im re-building her lid soon! her new food mix is done, and by the looks of it she's eaten/taken some since i put it in last night
will show progress of the lights and new lid as its done.

Do they emit heat? Try and get bulbs that don't emit heat.

What type of adapter did you use to get the red lights to work?

AC 100V-240V Adapter DC 12V 2A Power Supply + extention | eBay

my dad had one of these around the house, but to be honest i think a brake light that u can stick on would be better, i dont use these lights as much because the wires annoy me, you will probably be better off with a battery powered brake light
