Serendipity,
Yes the aircraft is the BBMF Lancaster, I had a foray to Duxford for one of their end of season little showcases, I will post a few here for folk to look at, not that many are interested in old warbird.
As you surmised the insects where shit with a Macro lens, my Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro and the deer and squirrel also shot with my Sigma 150-600mm f5.6 Contemporary. I just wish the weather was better to get some more.

Re: Rad's Photography
First a Harvard with D Day markings
Second a Lysander
Third a Hurricane
Fourth a Mustang
Finally a Spitfire with Polish squadron markings
I claim no credit and my husband enjoyed seeing the photos as getting them so sharp is hard to do.

Coco,
So near and yet no cigar, the first one is a Grumman F4F Wildcat or Martlett when in RNAS service.

Only that they both use radial engines the ”Harvard” was a trainer the wildcat was a carrier based fighter.

Re: Rad's Photography
‘Very true’ was his response.
I am told that Harvards certainly used to be at Duxford many years ago as he was behind the camera himself there on many occasions taking photos for a magazine.

Ah Coco, indeed Harvards where at Duxford they still have at least two of them there, you can have a flight in one for the cost of a small arm and a leg. I will post some more shots for further critique.
