Re: Needle felt hamster
Thanks Emma! There are some amazing felted creations I've seen online but the little ham I made wasn't too difficult. It's a little but time consuming but not hard. You need special felting needles, which are large needles with barbs (small jagged bits). And a special sponge or mat to felt onto. You get your wool fleece & roll it into a ball & then you just start stabbing it! You gently stab into the fleece and the barbs on the needles matt it together. You keep poking it until the ball feels firm & then add more layers to build it up to size & shape it. I did the head, ears, arms, legs, body as separate pieces and then felted them together

That is really great Velma. You must be a very patient person.

Re: Needle felt hamster
I thought you might like to see my latest effort - a little polar bear I made for a friend for her birthday because she loves Christmas.

Re: Needle felt hamster
I was tinkering around and I found this so I took a picture. It's the first thing I made. It was quite a while ago and I got the pattern from a magazine. I really enjoyed it but I after I made this sheep, I made a duck of my own design by then hadn't made anything since so I'm glad I've got back into. Although I think the polar bear I designed (above) might have the same snout as the sheep!

Re: Needle felt hamster
OMG that is like the cutest thing I've ever seen. How long did it take you to make that? If this was on sale I would definitely buy it!😄
