Default Websites by Fluffagrams

For many years I had been teaching myself to design and maintain websites, primarily for my hobbies but I have also undertaken work for clients in the past which has allowed me to further develop my skills.

I design under the name of The Sparkly Jacket, which you may have seen reference to on some of the photos that I have posted here and here's a couple of my sites...

The Sparkly Jacket - Home - The Sparkly Jacket
The portfolio of all my graphics and website design work. It will have photography added at some point in the not too distant future.

The Iconic Meat Loaf - The Iconic Meat Loaf
Currently the oldest of all my websites and has often been the testing ground for new design ideas and site platforms, The Iconic Meat Loaf is a website dedicated to providing news, information and reviews about Meat Loaf and his projects. The site usually has a gallery but this area is under redevelopment at present.

The next one is my most recent one and the one that is probably more relevant to this forum than the previous two and that is the Fluffagrams Hamsters website. The site has information on hamster care, reviews and photography and information about the Fluffagrams Hamsters.

looks good, do you write the code yourself too?
I really like all the small details on your portfolio

Since my boyfriend is a programmer I have got this thing for small details, like the tiny animation for the drop menu when you hover over 'design' - or how the wallpaper/background stays put even though you scroll down.

Your hamster site has a really sweet design too. I love the 'cartoon' style, it's so welcoming!

Edited because I cannot spell

All of the three sites that I've given are currently on self-hosted Wordpress platforms and the current designs have either been done with a template design program or frameworks. I can write code and learnt that about a year into designing websites as I wanted to be able to make changes that the WYSIWYG applications couldn't do.

I don't tend to stick to any one method of creating my sites and will choose whichever option suits the particular project I am working on at the time. If it's a simple site that is more focused on text and basic design elements such as the Fluffagrams or The Iconic Meat Loaf then a template design program will do the job just fine but sometimes it requires a little bit more so I'll use a different approach. Even if I've used a template design program though, I'll always create the graphics myself and making the graphics is one of my favourite parts of putting a site together.

It probably isn't the 'rule book' approach to site creation but it seems to work for me and the people I have designed for.
