It is called a jird (also spelt gird0. They are like gerbils and live about the same amount of time too.

They are classed as exotics and I think are about £75 just for one. They must live in pairs/groups.

That one was obviously very young.

Upon further research it doesn't look like a Jird. It looks like a Jerboa

It's definitely a Jerboa I know people that keep Jirds and they are more Gerbil looking.

Your not on your own Roxie..iv never heard of them either.

Can someone fill us in on just what these things are, how long they live for, etc.

And do they make good pets...not that I'm going to replace Squeak or anything
