Thank you Souffle. That was nice of you to post that

I held a flash light above their cage for about 5 minutes this morning around 5:30 am

They both run around real fast, they are all over the place until finally settling in their nest together. Mylie drinks lot of water, hope she doesn't have diabeters as I have bad experience with lots of hams being diabetic that I have owned.

Maybe I"ll put them on Burgess too? Will see, cant really separate her from her sister for any length of time to get a urine puddle to test?

Unless I put them in a carrier together

Watching the Chinese hammies isn't that exciting. They run back & forth, the length of the cage. Nothing earth shattering . lol

I'm sorry If I upset you.

I supposed that you weren't going to like what I was going to say and that's why I tried to carefully select each word that I was using. When I said "out of respect", "don't get offended, please" etc, I meant it. You asked for advice (or "suggestions") and I was just trying to tell you my honest opinion in the kindest way. And I did it because I think that's an important matter, not because I wanted to attack anyone. I believe in constructive criticism, and anyway, I think that It's not fair to ask for other people opinions and then feel attacked when they don't agree with everything you do.

But seriously, I wasn't slaming you down, and neither judging you. Just the opposite, that's why I used other expressions as "I hope they're getting along" and "I really wish you best" to clearify even more that I wanted to be in good terms with everybody and that I didn't want to kill your mood.

Apologies again, and If I bother you, don't worry, I don't want to upset you, I won't post in your threads again.

So in a week 1/2 I will have had the girls for a month with no sqabbling. I picked up Kylie just now and held & petted her. She didn't mind or bite. Just sat there, not even trying to escape

I think Mylie is the boss, the one w/o tail. I didn't pick up Mylie cause she had her house barricaded with bedding. After I put Kylie down she went into Mylie house. They were sleeping seperately today.

I have a brand new 15 gal for one of the girls if the start fighting, but Kylie is full size, just will fill out now. So I'd say they are maybe 4- 5 mo old.

I have a couple bags of Burgess coming for them coming from UK. I look forward to that, hope they like it?

I've been scatter feeding them because Mylie eats out of both dishes. So scatter feeding works well. It's cute watching them smell the bedding looking for hidden food.

They sit on top of their houses at night, so I put treats up there for them too.

It's good to hear that all is still going well with them I'm sure they'll love the Burgess when they do get it!

I'm giving them 10 more days of close observation. I might seperate them. I don't want them to hurt each other. Since they are getting bigger, they deserve their own space, I'm starting to think. With stimulating environment.

Positive advise needed. This is the 2nd day that I've noticed Kylie sleeping in a different house not even full of bedding. Poor little thing is how I feel towards her.

Mylie has the house they used to sleep in barricaded with bedding just like yesterday. They are getting bigger & they might have outgrown the house so only one can fit per house now. I can give Kylie some nesting material but she be scared if I put some in right now.

Is this a bad sign to sleep in seperate houses? Everything else is going well. I watched them last night & Kylie was more fearful cause I picked her up a couple time, where I've never picked Mylie up.

Mylie is much more confident and Kylie takes cues from Mylie if it's ok to be running around if I'm there watching them.

What do you make of this behavior, is it normal? I don't know why Kylie hasn't barricaded her house with bedding, like her sister?

I think tonight I'll take them both out for taming session then I can watch them better

I think Mylie is beginning to show signs that she wants to be left alone. I think I'll split them up after taming tonight

I wouldn't think putting a pile of shredded tissue where Kylie can use it would scare her then it's up to her if she wants to barricade her nest or not, I must admit I find it unusual that she hasn't, all my Chinese like to build mountains over their entrances!
It's hard to say what the sleeping apart indicates tbh, I think you just have to take it one day at a time & watch them very carefully for any signs of falling out.
If you pick one up I would try to pick both up, just having your scent on one & not the other could possibly cause problems.
They will be perfectly happy living alone so if you even suspect one or both isn't happy then I would let them each have their own home & you won't have to worry so much.

I am sure you will know when the time is right (if it does come) to split them. Its great that Kylie lets you pick her up with no biting. They are such nice looking hamsters.

Awww just seen Daisy run past the glass door into the garden. Its getting dark so will be shutting them (the four rabbits) into their shed/run in a few mins.

Thanks Cypher & FF, I put some shredded eco nesting material in front of the opening of her door. She didn't venture out to see what it was? She just slept away making her noises.

Kylie is the vocal one. I put lots of tissue in the cage for both of them & they never touched it so I took it out.

I'm sure your right, if the time comes I'll go ahead and seperate them. Haven't seen ant signs of aggression. Kylie steps on Mylie while running around & Mylie doesn't seem to mind at all.

Only you can make the decision on whether to separate them or not, since you are the one observing them. However, if you worry they might need separating soon, then better sooner than later. I think they probably will be happier apart and if you do it now, you won't have the worry of cleaning them up after a fight. They will also be able to have more space and let's face it, pairs are far more worrying than single hamsters.
