I wouldn't say they're dirty or dirtier Hamsterita, they're actually quite fastidious about keeping clean it's just that they do tend to like peeing in the wheel! Mostly Chinese though, my Russians have all been easy to litter train, peeing in the wheel is no problem though you just clean that instead of where ever else they might go!
It only looks a bit gross as they tend to eat in the wheel sometimes & get sand in it too so it all gets mixed up together in a nice layer of gunk

I hardly dare say it but Zylvan is doing his best to prove me wrong lol! he's been out & pleased to see me every morning since I said he wasn't coming out in the morning any more, I hope he didn't hear me saying that or he might try to prove me wrong again

Hmmm I'd say, based on Mushu, that Syrians can be pretty dirty! Mushu definitely pees in his wheel and I strongly suspect that he also pees in his house... I was hoping he would establish a wet corner as all my past hamsters gave, but so far he seems to just go anywhere lol.
