Re: Everything Zen
Cypher, I just finished reading Zen's entire thread. I couldn't wait a minute longer to get to know her in much more detail as I already am quite a loyal fan of hers. I just wanted to let you know that it is extremely entertaining and I loved it so much. It truly made me laugh so hard. She is quite the silly, gorgeous ham, and I absolute adore all of her spunkiness and charm. I loved how she dug huge mountains in the beginning and was quite the coy, little one who grew up to be the adventurous, brave princess that she is now. I totally loved her pics with her in her cozy hammock, her eating delicious sprouts so eagerly that she managed to get herself stuck in them, her driving the camper van cup (including the crash, lol), her perching on her food dishes with her teeny tiny toes, and of course all of the ones with her and the famous TARDIS. All of her pictures are amazing, but I believe these are probably my favs thus far. She has totally captured my heart, and I'm completely mesmerized with her. I just love that she eats from your hand so delicately and lovingly one moment and then finds a way to jump onto your camera and scurry up into your sleeve or shirt in the next moment, lol. She is a hamgal with so many amusing sides to her, all equally special and unforgettable in their own way. She must keep you extremely busy and so in love that you feel like you need to have eight octopus arms in order to keep up with all that she does to ensure your life is so full of excitement and adventure. I also enjoyed all of the great videos, too, btw.
Aww, such a precious pic of Zen calling out to her beloved Artie from the Dr. Who's telebalcony! She is quite the Juliet (without the sad ending of course) or maybe its Dr. Who-ham, lol. She looks so lovely as always perched up there. I totally love it! She sure is one very special hamprincess, and she would absolutely make one amazing Dr. Who-ham as was previously stated by other.
I also missed all of those previous ham productions as I wasn't a HC member at the time. It does truly sound like tons of fun though and I would absolutely love it if our hams could all do a performance together in the near future. I'm sure that Eros will love to play a part as well if she passes the auditions. If the plan is to do Dr. Who-ham, Zen will make the perfect Dr. Who-ham and Artie will be a most fitting love interest partner. If the Chronicles of Narnia is the play, Quigley most certainly should be Aslan.

Re: Everything Zen
I have some not so good news about Zen
She has kidney problems, she’s been drinking & peeing more for a while now but isn’t testing positive for diabetes or showing any signs of infection so the only conclusion is kidney problems, without subjecting her to blood tests which I really don’t want to do as there probably wouldn’t be any appropriate treatment anyway it’s not possible to say what, it could be a weakness in the kidney/s, maybe even something she was born with that’s only fairly recently begun to show up or possibly something like amyloidosis.
She’s not the live wire she was & spends a lot more time hiding away in her nest, even though I clean as little as possible I do have to clean more now & I think that’s upsetting her poor girl, she so hates her nest being messed with she\s doing ok though, generally still healthy, runs in her wheel & certainly hasn’t lost the ability to beg for treats or get up to mischief
She’s lost interest in a lot of things but still enjoys leaping out of the cage door to climb around on me or run around inside my top so we still have some lovely times together.
All I can do is modify her diet a bit, sadly that means reducing some of her favourite foods but I’m not omitting anything entirely, I want her to enjoy life as much as possibly so I have to strike a balance somehow.
Fingers crossed she’ll continue to do well for some time in spite of this but having gone through something similar with Zephyr I can’t help worrying, I’ve been meaning to post about this for a while but every time I tried I kept getting too upset, trying to stay positive though.
When I took her to the vet I was gutted to discover that my really good vet has left the practise I’d been thinking he might for a while as he’s been getting involved in a lot of animal rights stuff, doing things for watchdog & various other projects so I kind of saw it coming, the vet I saw was ok but I doubt I’ll ever find the level of expertise & care we’ve been used to again.
She’s been a bit camera shy lately but hopefully I’ll get some more photos to share soon.

Re: Everything Zen
Oh, no! I'm so shocked and heartbroken by the terrible news that Zen has kidney problems and hasn't been her typical self lately. I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed that she will be able to recover from this. I agree that reducing, not eliminating, her favorite foods is the way to go. What terrible news that your knowledgeable and caring previous vet is no longer at the practice; it's wonderful that he is pursuing wonderful causes but such awful timing! Hopefully, your new vet will have the knowledge and compassion to find a way to help your lovely Zen. If not, is there any way that you can possible seek another HC member's vet's expertise. I will be praying for you and your darling Zen. My heart goes out to you both. Hugs to you, Cypher! Cuddles to the lovely Zen!

Re: Everything Zen
Oh God Cypher I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for little Zen, she's a little fighter. It's awful when they're not well, you wish you could wave a magic wand and make it go away. With your love and care, Zen's in good hands. Big hugs to the both of you xxx
