Re: Everything Zen
So sweet that Zen tidied up the Fitch - it's so cute when they do things like this it as if they know what we are thinking.

Re: Everything Zen
I wish my girls would learn to tidy up. Jessie piles up Fitch in her wheel but then stares at me, expecting me to clear it off for her to go and fill up again.
Zen sounds simply delightful - definitely one for my hamnapping list!

Re: Everything Zen
Zylvan wasn't the only one who got a new sprout garden! Zen had to have one too
The other boys haven't had one yet as I'm still experimenting a bit with how they grow but they will get some soon I hope.
I'm growing them in sand, wheat, oats, millet & buckwheat so far, more experiments to come
I was way too late picking up the camera with Zen though, she was so funny, she grabbed a long piece, pinned the middle down with her feet then kept trying & failing lol to catch the tip that was waving about in front of her face
Of course I missed the moment.
She got so excited, I haven't seen her like that since the first few times she had her little pots of sprouts, she just races round & round the cage, leaps out of the door into my hands & climbs all over me which is a lot of fun but not exactly helpful for taking photos, I really need more hands!

Re: Everything Zen
Awww lovely to see gorgeous Zen. I had to laugh at her trying to catch the tip and it waving around in front of her, priceless lol. Her little sprout pot looks so tasty and it's interesting that you are experimenting with them and will look forward to seeing the results. I keep meaning to grow some more but my kitchen window is north facing meaning that over the Winter there's not been much light for them. Hopefully now it's getting a bit brighter the boys can get some soon (I expect Jaska will be scared of it and Artie will ignore it, he doesn't seem to like vegetables!)

Re: Everything Zen
She's such a smart girl. I understand why they love their sprouts so much. They look amazing.
It's good to know that she's doing fine as usual, and even better to see her again.

Re: Everything Zen
Thanks guys
BorisPasha I have south facing windows but still no light so my sprouts sit under my grow lights in an eerie glow most of the time!
Spooky ham garden

Re: Everything Zen
It sounds like they were a huge hit.
I keep meaning to do something like that for my hamsters but still haven't got everything I need sorted yet.

Re: Everything Zen
Do give it a go Fluffagrams I'm sure your hams will enjoy it once you get your stuff, it gets quicker & easier when spring & summer come too!
CB yes four little pots of the usual ham weed mix there, two battered saucers that will go back in the cages tonight to be finished off, more millet, grains & some beetroot which is finally beginning to germinate, I won't put the beetroot in the cages though just cut off a few shoots to go with veg.
I've got some fresh organic salad seeds on the way too, I haven't been able to face growing lettuce since Mickle went to the bridge, just makes me too sad but I'm sure my clan will enjoy some so I'll grow lettuce & be happy again
For anyone who might be interested in growing things for hams there are plenty of ideas & tips here on the German forum, badly translated by Google!
