Re: Zeki's Thread - new man in my life
I think he's a bit scared of it,bless him!
He was giving it a very wide berth when he went for a drink & when I tried to encourage him onto it ran off back to his wheel!
I did wonder if it was the right time to do it as he's been a bit nervy the last few days & I did make a bit of a racket when he was sleeping (or trying to!) putting it up but when he did come out he was back to his usual more confident self, just not near the hammock!
I put some food in & on it but it's still there this morning so he obviously hasn't worked up the courage to explore yet!
I'll leave it a while & see how he goes, I can't imagine a Chinese not enjoying a hammock once he gives it a go.
I did manage to get a little vid of him running around at the other end of his cage though
I put a blanket over the end to block out the rather bright light coming from the kitchen in the evening & he seems fascinated by that little dark corner, jumping out of his wheel every now & then for a little bar climb before resuming the race
I love the look on his sweet little face near the end where he's sniffing my hand "Where's my treat Mum?!"

Re: Zeki's Thread - new man in my life
Thanks Bec, he does seem to be a happy little guy
I think he might even have ventured into the hammock last night when I wasn't around to see!

Re: Zeki's Thread - new man in my life
Is the cute little multicoloured fence that's around Zeki's wheel a bendy bridge by any chance? If so do you know where I can get some?

It's two of the Ranch house cages bridges, can't remember which ones but you can see their collection here, they do some lovely things.

Thanks. I'm thinking that it would go nicely as a ramp in James's cage.

Re: Zeki's Thread - new man in my life
Cypher I had a look on your link and they do some really nice stuff. I like that multicoloured bendy bridge too but I cannot justify more shopping right now! I can't hang my new hammock properly in the space I wanted.
Perhaps it's time for another hamster so I can get more stuff!

Re: Zeki's Thread - new man in my life
lol! Coco that's my kind of thinking, too much stuff hmmmm better get another ham
Putting the hammock in Zeki's cage really was a bit of a squeeze, maybe it would have worked with more space in a bigger cage but I don't think he was happy with it there, he got a bit nervy again so after accidentally startling him & just seeing the tip of a tail disappear at the speed of light I thought I'd take it out again, he came back out to see what I was up to & seemed happier after that!
