Re: The Honourable Jessie Jaye of Metallica
Jessie looks so sweet there - but I can see there is a naughty streak as well. She likes the hammock!

Re: The Honourable Jessie Jaye of Metallica
Jessie's behaviour has settled down again since moving her into one of the bigger bin cages I had and she's gone back to running on her wheel and doing her housekeeping. She wouldn't be Jess though if she didn't do something silly and she's decided to make herself a nest right underneath the water bottle, running the risk of getting the substrate all soggy.
I've moved the water bottle and blocked up the hole that the spout was meant to come through with a wooden chew. Problem solved - I hope!

Re: The Honourable Jessie Jaye of Metallica
It's seems to be a popular place to sleep under the water bottle! Zylvan did it for a couple of nights but soon gave up in the idea.
She must be missing her precious hammock or did you manage to hang it in the bin cage?
She seemed to enjoy her cage for a while, did something set off a change in behaviour do you think?

I've put it back up although she's got her new one as I thought it might be a good opportunity to wash the hammocks...then the washing machine broke so it looks like I'll be handwashing them tomorrow instead as I don't much feel like taking the hammocks to a launderette.

She was really happy in that cage which is why I went out and bought one for Victoria too. She'd been acting up for about a week before I decided to move her. At first it was a barely noticeable change so I thought she'd settle down again but she got progressively worse until that night when I moved her.
What's odd is that nothing had changed when Jessie started acting up. They've been on the same food since December, all four cages are in the same order that they've always been since moving them all up to the hamster room. The only change was Victoria's new cage which was literally the day before I moved Jessie. That might have been the tip of the iceberg but it wasn't what stated it which makes me think that it was just one of those things.

Re: The Honourable Jessie Jaye of Metallica
That's a shame, sometimes it is hard to know what sets off changes in behaviour, hope she'll be happy in her bin now, she must be pleased to have a hammock again anyway, I find it hard to imagine her without one now!
Sorry to hear about your washing machine, that's such a pain.

Re: The Honourable Jessie Jaye of Metallica
I might end up trying to find a new larger barred cage for her at some point but she'll be staying where she is for now.
Anyway, today is a very special day for little Jessie Jaye because today is her first birthday.

Re: The Honourable Jessie Jaye of Metallica
Happy Birthday lovely girl, hope you are having a wonderful day full of seeds
A year already, how did that happen?!
I did wonder if she might be wanting a bigger barred cage tbh, she seems quite like my girls who have all loved their space & lots to do, boys seem to be rather a different matter!
