They do love those seeds don't they.
I like the feeding technique, messy sounds good

Actually now you mention it, my pet shop hams have been more greedy than James is. Maybe it's something to do with the differences in how they were fed when young or something.

I wonder the same thing, either poor quality food or possibly taken from their mother too soon.

Little Lewis has certainly landed on his paws with you, Velma! Clever boy to work out where the seeds come from

A little Lewis update. I'm getting him used to popping in his pouch so I can lift him across the cage, which he doesn't seem to mind. He's also taking seeds from hands quite happily now. I put the ouch on his house and let him walk down into my hand to get the seeds. He's not too sure about walking right across them yet but whatever he's comfortable with is fine by me And I'm not sure if he eats them but he loves the science selective biscuits. If I offer him them he'll take one, carry it round to find somewhere to stash it and come back for another. At some point, I'll try them bashed up to see if he actually eats the pieces. It's pretty cute to watch though! Still turns his nose up eat mealworms though. Typical really. All my hamsters are always slightly weird aren't they?

Well done Lewis! Sounds as though you're making great progress with him velma
I'm not surprised he's enjoying his pouch, it is a very Chinesey kind of thing!

Weird hamsters.... is there any other kind?

Me and Lewis are getting on well. We have the odd evening where he's more skittish than normal and I haven't rushed him as I didn't want to set him back 'til I'd got to know his personality better. Luckily he's only been peeing in his wheel so far so spot cleaning has been easy but recently he's taken to digging under his house, taking his hoard there and sometimes sleeping there so soon I'm going to have to do a bigger clean. Hoping it doesn't set us back too much.....

Luckily, I had my phone on me yesterday so was able to grab a couple of shots of Cleo. While I had it out thought I'd try and get a couple of photos of Lewis taking seeds from me.

Aww that's so lovely seeing him in your hand there velma
He really is growing up now & very handsome with it!

I had a bit of a clean with Zeki a couple of nights ago, couldn't find a thing, hoard or pee so I think he's doing it all in his wheel, anyway just to say it doesn't seem to have set us back at all so maybe these boys are that much more laid back!
