The hamster's safety is at risk & certainly I can't imagine how a hamster would enjoy being around a dog? All it takes is a moment and it's too late, you don't want that to happen!

Thank you I certainly don't allow them to play together.

This is where I got the impression that the dog and the hamster are in contact with one another?

Well they have been in contact with each other yes - under strict supervision. I mean I wouldn't allow him to run around on the floor with her for example.
April (dog) is extremely well trained and has a lot of experience around small animals. I do appreciate everyone's concern and will restrict interaction between them in the future.

Re: Meet Wintrow
They get those little paws wrapped around your finger and you find you can't be without one, or two, or twenty, or thirty...
Once upon a time I had one Chinesey. Now I have a room full!

I love Chinese hammie's but I thought they were only timid and not social? Do you have any that hide continually? That's the only thing holding me back from a Chinese in the future?
I see you have 40 hammies, are all Chinese? What's the breakdown of the different species?
Don't mean to ask you these questions on somebody else's thread, will PM you if you don't mind?

I've had one who started off shy but ended up being a right little attention seeker. If she knew you were around, she'd come up to the mesh of her cage to say hello and she'd let you know when she wanted to come out and play and she was a right little madam when it came to begging for seeds.
At the moment I have a Chinese boy who is a bit prone to hiding when he's in his cage but he's perfectly happy to be held and will sit on my arm for snuggles. A couple of times he's been close to falling asleep on me.
