Bolt - My Little Old Lady
Bolt previously shared a thread with her former cagemate Blake, who died at the venerable old age of 30 months in October 2014. I'm delighted to say that Bolt is still going strong at 3 years and 7 months old
She's always been my most determined tunnel builder - everytime I clean her cage it only takes her one evening before she's turned it upside down and rebuilt it to her own liking. She's recently taken to building nests in her wheel, while still using it as a wheel, which means I sometimes see what appears to be a floating nest when she decides to go for a run...
She seems to be in great health given her age - she sleeps more than she used to now, but still looks great (I believe her beauty regime is nothing more than diligent and repeated washing )

Re: Bolt - My Little Old Lady
What a grand age and she looks SO well! I always knew Chinese hamsters had a long life-span although some only get to around the two year mark. I sadly lost my female far too early and it was a gut busting time for me as she was such a special little friend. They are so different and mousey, which I love! x

Re: Bolt - My Little Old Lady
Thanks, all - she really has amazed me. The fur on her back has lightened slightly with time, but otherwise you wouldn't guess she's an extremely senior citizen
The only health issue she's ever had was a cyst on her throat a few months ago, but just as I wondering whether to take her to the vet, I came in one morning to find it gone - not sure if she'd popped it or caught it on something, but either way she'd dealt with it all by herself.
I call her my magic self-healing hamster now

Re: Bolt - My Little Old Lady
What a beautiful girl! She doesn't look like a senior ham at all, 3 and a half years young! I think she's very smart, keeping busy is the key to along healthy life and she sounds like a very busy girl!
