Re: Meet Whisper
She's been very busy keeping things safe this morning!
She's sleeping under her shelf again the last few days & while I was sat here browsing through posts a huge mountain appeared out of nowhere, I seriously didn't think there was quite that much substrate under the shelf lol! the shelf & her wheel were at a ridiculous angle & she kept coming out & having a little run, maybe she was just checking it still worked
I had to take it out, level things off a bit & put it back, very carefully, with her still underneath looking up at me in bewilderment, "What are you doing now Mum"!
I hope she's not setting a bad example for Zeki Maybe he was listening to her racket as he started digging away in his house soon after, he keeps things so neat & tidy though! No mountains erupting just funny little noises
The way she's been begging for food I think she must be making a nice big stash under there, hope she doesn't pee on it again or we're going to be having more unhappy ham problems when I clean it out, fingers crossed lol!
Here she is checking out what might be left in the snoozecube.
Little pink nose
ETA I don't think she approved of me interfering!
Here's me thinking while she's settled under the shelf I'll have a look in her house & see if anything needs cleaning out but as soon as I lifted the top off & moved some tissue I felt body heat & saw that little nose... oops!

Re: Meet Whisper
Aw that little nose! Hmm maybe she is still living in the house and has just made a hoard under the shelf and put an extra large mountain on top of it so no-one can find it ha ha.

I can just picture that expression.
I don't know what it is about these girls? James's cage is immaculate compared to what May's used to be like and what Jessie has recently been up to. It's not as if he doesn't do anything because I hear him scratching around from time to time and I can watch him build his tunnels - they're all so neat and well constructured.
That little nose peeking out from the snoozecube - now that's just too much cuteness.

Re: Meet Whisper
I think it may well be the hormones kicking in with the girls!
They probably have no idea why they do it but just get the urge to create a bigger better nest every few days & make a few nice hoards (& in Whisp's case pee on them to keep them safe) just in case they're needed!
Zeki does a fair bit of scratching around & makes digging sounds but everything still remains all neat & tidy too, a few very neat burrow holes around the cage but that's about it.

That makes sense. I always thought that girls were more likely to do what they do through some kind of natural instinct to build suitable homes for their young.
I'm glad Jessie doesn't pee on her stash although I think she moves it every so often to keep it safe. After all, she doesn't want anyone stealing from her well stocked supplies.
Does Whisp have well stocked stashes compared to Zeki? James's stash is practically nothing compared to Jessie's.

Re: Meet Whisper
Unless he's hidden it extremely well, which is always a possibility Zeki doesn't seem to have much of a stash either, maybe it's too much like hard work for the boys
I think Whisp is beginning to build up more of a stash the last few days but since I messed with her houses she mostly seems to be using her hammocks & corner crush for her hoard, I was a bit worried she wasn't eating much for a while until I twigged what she was doing, thankfully she doesn't feel the need to pee on those!

That sounds about right.
James doesn't really do hard work. I tried scatter feeding with him a few weeks ago and instead of looking for his food, he goes and sits where his food bowl would have been.
