Sorry to make your brain explode Velma!
I think the number you can manage really depends on the hams you have & how much attention they enjoy, I felt quite maxed out with three before but then rather lost with just two!
Space is at a premium here too, the hams have more than I do lol! fortunately there's no one else to complain or get cross!
Something to think about though & if you're short on cages I've still got a Kerry that's just getting in the way! I'll stop being so evil now

Oh you're mean! I've been told by my OH that the duna multy we have is not a spare. I told him it was Cleo's holiday cage as we can't transport her tank and he reminds me of that every time I look a bit misty eyed... In some ways it's a good job we have the cats too - it means I can't accidentally acquire more hamsters and have them migrate from the only cat free room in the house
