I've seen a few people say that they've had hamsters mis-sold to them as another type and although my local store is pretty good in that respect as there is a girl working there who knows what she's talking about I've seen it when visiting other stores.
Chinese Hamsters are lovely though, they can be a litle bit nervous and shy sometimes but they're really quite intelligent and can be very loving once they get to know you.

Re: Sugar's Thread
My local P@H had dwarf Chinese hamsters in about 6 months ago!
That would be a shame if they don't get them back in.

I think it's such a shame when the shops don't have them but I was talking to one of the girls in the shop where I bought May and she told me that they just don't seem to sell as well as the other types of hamster.
The photos of Sugar prove that they can be just as gorgeous as the other types of hamster so I wonder if it's just because people know a lot less about them?

Re: Sugar's Thread
I find that hard to believe that they don't sell as well as other hams. I think they're totally gorgeous!

Re: Sugar's Thread
Much as I hate to be down on something you must think really cute no matter how good natured Syd might be accidents happen so very easily I really wouldn't take a risk like with a tiny hamster & a dog.

I always watch them very closely, usually keep my hands around Sugar to make sure I can quickly pick her up if he moves too quickly (just took my hands away for a few seconds to take this picture while he was half asleep), and make sure she doesn't go near his ears or feet because those are his sensitive spots! They're big fans of each other

Re: Sugar's Thread
I'm going to agree with cypher I'm afraid. Prey animals and predator animals don't mix in my opinion even if the predator is old, sweet and asleep. It's all risk and no benefit to either party. I know the Internet is full of cute pictures of hamsters interacting with other larger animals but all I can think about is a scared hammy not showing fear in case it gets eaten, a dog thinking its a toy, even just a misplaced paw a cute photo isn't worth the risk...
