Red face New BEW Chinese Hamster!

Two weeks ago, I adopted my beautiful then 6-week old black-eyed white chinese hamster - Luke Dawkins.

He's quite timid, but I think that's just his nature

He'll climb over my hands and arms, take treats and the like, but isn't quite as enthusiastic for contact as my other dwarf hamsters.

I think I'm a little bit in love! <3

I got him from the adoption centre at my local Pets at Home. He was only 6 weeks old, and they said he needed 'special care', because he was a bit nibbly, although he's only nibbled me a tiny bit, and now he's used to me he doesn't at all!

I didn't realise how unusual they were until I'd got him and researched Chinese hamsters a bit more

He`s just adorable! He has two things going for him I love. He`s white and he`s a Chinese! I can`t understand why anyone would give him back to adoption at such a young age. Just goes to show some people have no taste! Chinese hamsters are very much like mice. Intelligent and become very devoted to their owners. They love chunks of millet spray as a treat! x

Oh my! He's so gorgeous.

I find it hard to understand why people take on a pet and then give them up when they don't fit into their expectations. You've proven that with time, that he could be handled without nibbling. Oh well. Their loss is your gain.

What a handsome boy. I'm glad he's landed on his paws second time around
