Suggested gnawing items !
Any ideas of safe things for little coco to gnaw she doesn't like any shop sold things I have got her and continues to gnaw her cage and anything not intended for gnawing ! Any sources of wooden wheels in the Uk ? I have had to remove the wheel every time I clean her out and not replace it for 2/3 days as this is when she tends to gnaw most after cleaning out so I leave her to settle otherwise massive amounts of wheel are ingested I have heard you can give them dog things to gnaw like the chews made from vegetable and dog biscuits ?
Thanks any suggestions welcome or any ideas to settle her down as I think it's all from stress !

Yeah dog biscuits, milk bones, bonios, biscrok and markies are all popular.
Pets at home and zooplus.co.uk both sell wooden wheels in the UK too

Re: Suggested gnawing items !
Ahhh brill I have seen those croc chews so I will get some tomorrow I hate taking her wheel away from her but the amount is has eaten is crazy and she is so little ! Always look round cage for any scraps of plastic but never any so she is obviously ingesting it ! Looks like I will be in the dog section tomorrow !. I will have another look at zoo plus for wooden wheel that would fit in her cage I don't buy anything from POH. Thanks do much for you help guys anymore suggestions welcome as she becomes bored easily so not sure how long chews will last ! X

Kiki! your hammy nom-ing doggy biscuit while running is so cute!
As far as items, my hammy gets sick of stuff quickly but the first time I gave him wooden chopsticks he went bonkers over it. Nowadays he pretty much just gnaws on hard pieces of his food.

Re: Suggested gnawing items !
I also give mine milk-bone dog biscuits, there are plenty of other things that you can give them to gnaw on. Shell on Pecans are another one I use, and there is a product here in the states called Hamsteriods, they're made of calcium and fruit flavored. You can also get applewood chews. It's really dependent on the individual hamster. You might want to try one thing at a time, so you can get some sure feedback as to what peaks her interest.
Good luck!

Re: Suggested gnawing items !
Thanks for all your help guys
I have bought one of those croc dog toys which is already gnawing away at now ! I also bought some dog biscuits but the clever munchkin just picked it up and stored it away !!! I also stuffed a calcium type gnawing toy with food which she has to gnaw at to get ! So far haven't found a wooden wheel that i'm happy for her to have some have wire and need a solid wooden one with no slats .
Thanks once again and more ideas welcome as she will get bored easily ! Has anyoe had experience with crazy gnawing hamsters i'm worried its stress as she is a rescue with a tramatic past one ear has part missing and a missing toe on one foot

Re: Suggested gnawing items !
Millet sprays are great for our Chinese Monty. He spends hours stripping all the millet off & taking it to his hidey places. It's really cheap & might give your hammie something else to do apart from chewing
