Thumbs up Ferplast Criceti 15

I know from other posts elsewhere in the forum that this is a really popular cage but it doesn't yet have a review.

The Ferplast Criceti 15 was first recommended to me by Bailey-Benji who actually bred my hamster Evelyn and houses Evelyn's sister Passion in this type of cage too.

I think this cage is fantastic. It's a good size for a syrian as it measures 78cmx48cmx39cm which is approximately 31"x19"x15.5". My hamster certainly seems much happier and fitter in this cage than her previous one.

It comes with an exercise wheel (6.5" diameter), food dish, water bottle, corner shelf, 2 ladders and a hamster house for sleeping in.

This is a very sturdy, well made cage. It has a good, deep base meaning you can be generous will wood shavings without having to worry about them ending up all over your carpet. It has a fully open roof rather than a little side door somewhere. This gives you easy access for cleaning or getting your hamster out to play. Evelyn has figured out that the roof is the way out but it is so secure that I've not had any escapes (touch wood).

The base of the cage clips on to the upper part with 2 good solid clips which are very easy to do/undo (for you that is not your hamster) making cleaning easy. The ventilation in the cage is good meaning no nasty niffs. My hamster is a climber and loves climbing up the bars on the side of the cage and sometimes across the roof like spiderman.

For those of you that haven't noticed I do really like this cage and Evelyn seems to as well. However, it's not perfect. The wheel is too small for a syrian hamster so I had to invest in a bigger one. My hamster like to chew on the some of the plastic parts of the cage so I will eventually have to repair or replace them. That's all the negatives I can think of.

All in all I would highly recommend this cage.

I didn't realise their wasn't a review for this cage, I've wanted one for ages ever since i saw it on a mouse forum. It is quite expensive for me, but i'll just have to save. Hopefully getting foster hammies so will get it for them!

Thumbs up Re: Ferplast Criceti 15

The cage looks great. I'm hoping to order one soon for my roborovski hamsters as it's the biggest dwarf hamster cage I can find. Can't wait! Anyone know what the bar spacing is? I can't find anywhere that says...

If anyone is wanting one the cheapest place I've found is Equinecaninefeline.com - £54.99 inc delivery

The bar spacing is 1 cm on this particular cage. I ordered mine from EquineCanineFeline.com and I also used the code FUN888 whilst checking out which gives you 10% off your order.

Thanks for the reply! Glad I didn't order it now - if it's 1cm that's too big for robos ( Boo hiss.

I believe so, yup. It needs to be less than 1cm - about the same spacing as the top of a Mini Duna cage. Roborovskis are so tiny... this is one of mine eating a peanut when she was 6 months old (so fully grown):
