I hope you get lucky Serendipity for your search for a replacement base. Selling our cage locally might be an option as not easy object to post! At the same time we might keep it as if we have more space in the future it would be nice to have two hamsters to care for

Our only experience is with Syrian hamster, and we would like to adopt a Syrian -however if a dwarf hamster was up for adoption then would love to offer a home to he or she

Once we have the Plaza up and in use - I plan to write a cage review about it.

That would be great. I still want one but can't justify it as have a perfectly good Barney cage.

1cm bar spacing is fine for Russian & Chinese hams, it should be fine for an adult Robo too but may just be a bit big for a very young Robo.
With a bit of thought given to the layout, especially the height & the potential for falls I think it would make a great cage for a dwarf ham, I still want one too but can't quite justify it either

I personally wouldn't put a Robo in a cage with 1cm bar spacing, after seeing this photo! Although admittedly that corner gap does look bigger than 1cm. The Robo was fine by the way according to the vet story but he did get stuck

Those gaps look a bit more than 1cm to me.With a lot of cages it is the corners & edges you have to watch for larger spacing though.

Yes I think it's bigger than 1cm too. I think maybe only a Robo would be bonkers enough to try and get through 1cm bar spacing and shouldn't get stuck really unless they can get their head through

. Actually another good thing about the Savic Plaza is it has those nice corner strips and no gaps at the corners.

I’ve ordered the plaza now. Received my Zooplus order yesterday with wheel, accessories etc and have ordered Fitch bedding. All I need now is a hamster lol
