Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage Questions
If you own the savic hamster heaven metro cage (80x50x50) you might be able to help me. I am looking at this cage after seeing all the good reviews but have a few questions,
• can you remove the ladders attached to both levels?
•could you replace some of the ladders with tubes?
• is the wheel provided suitable for a Syrian hamster?
• do you have to have the penthouse at the top
• can you add levels from previous cages?
If you could answer my questions I would be very grateful but if not that's ok I will look into another cage. Thankyou! X

re: Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage Questions
I don't have the Savic Hamster Heaven, but my friend does and I set it up for her, so I think I can answer your questions.
Yes, you can remove the ladders for both levels, if needed. A Syrian should be able to climb the ladders though.
I don't think it would be possible to attach tubes to the holes in the shelves.
The wheel is large enough for a baby Syrian and big enough for all the other species of hamster (if I remember correctly it's 8 inches).
No, you can disconnect the penthouse if you wish, especially during the taming period, although there is a door that connects to it.
Yes you can add levels from another cage, but the levels it comes with do take up a lot of space for more shelves.
Hope this helps .

re: Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage Questions
I use the Hamster heaven without any of the tubes, levels, ladders or penthouse, you can block off the holes where the tubes go (cage comes with blockers), you can easily just use the basic cage & add your own shelves, levels or whatever you fancy.
The wheel is pretty rubbish really, I just binned mine! As chesca said it might be ok for a baby but not an adult syrian.

re: Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage Questions
I upgraded Jessie to a secondhand Hamster Heaven about a month ago and we're literally just using the cage itself and don't have any of the additions that originally came with it. We've blocked off the tubes (they're compatible with the Ferplast caps too) and have just added Jessie's own freestanding level from her previous cage.
It's a good sturdy cage and that large front door has been a blessing when getting Jessie in and out for playtime.
Here's Jessie's set up...
She's a small Chinese so you'd need a bigger wheel for a fully grown Syrian.

re: Savic Hamster Heaven Metro Cage Questions
I don't have the Heaven. However, on a cage that is not too dissimilar (Alexander) we have used some tubes we had from a previous cage, and have routed them both long the roof (internally) as an alternative way to get from one shelf to another, and as a way to get up onto one of the shelves. The tubing is attached to the cage bars with zip ties, so are supported in several places in a fairly secure way.
She was so happy to have the tubes back again that she'd started running along them before I'd even finished installing them(!) However, if she does start hoarding in those tubes then they'll be coming out pronto!
