Default Rotastack Lunar Module

Hi guys, thought I'd give you my review of the Rotastack Lunar Module

We got the cage as it was on offer when we bought Gizmo, costing us £26.99 instead of the usual £31.99. Apologies for no pictures, but we didn't keep it all that long...

We found that the cage was extremely fiddly and difficult to put together. The tubing attatched to the main chamber was difficult to insert into the lid and the globes, while the green outer tubing was extremely hard to put together. We found that the access to the cage was very restricted given that we hae quite large hands and arms (being adults). The whole cage felt like we needed a five year old to figure it out (I seem to have lost my youthful dexterity ).

It feels like this cage, although it looks impressive, is impractical, badly fitting, and difficult to utilise. Having tried to use the cage for a week we took it back to P@H and reverted to a plastic and wire cage. We are now looking for a larger tank style cage to give Gizmo more room and to give us better access.

Sadly I didn't get dimensions information, but it seemed as if Giz was struggling around in the cage (especially in the wheel, which was very stiff and heavy to move).

If anyone wants any more info or has any other opinion on the cage, give me a shout

Nightminder and Gizmo

EDIT: Picture:

Dimensions:
Height 46cm 18inches
Width 56cm 22inches
Depth 33cm 14inches

From someone who started out with rotastak cages, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone as a permanent home for a hamster for a number of reasons and this cage is no exception.

The wheels are too small for a syrian, the tubes aren't wide enough for a large syrian and the cages themselves are poorly made, expensive and lack any open space for hamsters to explore.

We purchased a Superpod (among other cages) for our 2 (!) dwarf hamsters for 29.99 from pets at home and for the same price I bought a 50L storage box and kitted it out with a range of fun toys and play things!

I can't believe that cage would normally cost £32!!

I really think rotastaks are made for children (& parents with money) & not at all designed for the well being of the hamster

I think the only way I could be tempted to use a rotastak cage again would be if it was attached to a 'normal' adequately sized barred cage.

I had a rotostak cage for my first hamster, Eddie. It cost me £45 just for the Maxi Mansion!!!!

I was well ripped off. I didnt like the cage that much. It got smelly and dirty too easily because there wasnt that much ventilation and when he went to the toilet, it would go all over the plastic sides and stained the base.

I bought an extension, here it is

but Eddie chewed the food trough, able to sqeeze through an escape! so i had to chuck it out.

When Eddie died (RIP Eddie) I got a new hamster, Lillie. I bought another rotostak extension which was much better, it was called the Cosmo Pod
she loved it.

When Lillie passed away (RIP Lillie) I got another hamster, Kimmi. I kept her in just that cosmo pod until she out grew it so I got her a savic cambridge cage cos she chewed the corner and escaped! little rascal

so i think that if you have a hamster that loves to chew, dont get the rotostak!

There were two robo's in the rotastack mini mansion and the cosmo pod (joined together) at college. Rotastck make their cages so poorly that in the middle of the night the little robos managed to puch out the water bottles (not hrd as they seem to fall off without me even touching them!) and escape. Unfortunatly 1 was found dead in the cipmunks inclosure and the other was never found.
Also trying to clean out one of those lunar module cages is like a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle! I couldn't get it back together again!
In my opinion these cages are awful.
Good review though
