Default Review Wilkinsons Rat Cage used for hamster

Hi Everyone I thought I would do a cage review. I have swapped Mya's cage to a Wilkisons rat cage to give her more room plus this cage wouldn't be big enough to keep 2 rats in.

This cage has a level and a long pipe so the hamster can get up to it. Has 2 doors, 1 on the side and the other on the top.
The cage costs just 22.99 and comes with a large rat wheel which I have taken out and used her jumbo rolly. I have added an activity gym that is hanging down from the top which she uses and sits in the hannock part this cost £8.99 with P&P. She has an edible Loafa ball, a budgie mirror which she climbs on or rings the bell. Her house I bought when I got her other cage also her food dish was bought and her water bottle came with her other cage.

All in all I am really please with the cage and Mya seems to like it and all her toys aswell.
I like Wilkisons cages as they are good value for money and hams seem happy with them.

My hamster Asbo is in the Pennine rat starter cage which is exactly the same as yours. If you want to expand it FOP tubing cage connectors can be fitted over the doors. Also Feberplast cage platforms will fit as well to use up some of the empty space. I like the hanging thingummy which does the same function.

The only trouble with it is the depth of the base as the litter can be easily kicked out.

Thank you for a great review sarah. This looks like a good cage with plenty space and at a very good price for the size.

I was looking at that cage in the Wilkos near me this afternoon. Freaky.

As Pouchy said, it's the same as the Pennine Rat Starter Cage. My ratties came to me in one. Freakin' tiny for a rat but great for a hamster!

Hi ya thanks for the tip about the Fop tubing I may just do that in time have it coming out on one door and back through the other. Ferplast cage platforms aswell thats good news atleast then I can add onto my cage.

Thanks hehe I like her hammock aswell Mya seems to love climbing onto the ladder and sitting in the hammock.

I agree about the depth not being deep enough but fortunatly we use Finacard so not a problem it used to be when we had the others on litter in the other cages Wilko's used to do.

Souffle thanks the cage does have plenty of space for hammies to play in.

heleni0 Lol must have read your mind and bought it. It definatly is too tiny for Rats I used to have rats and they had a huge cage with levels a wheel everything a rat could need they had.

I think definatly a good hamster though.

I have 3 of the Hamster versions of that cage and they are excellent, I would recommend them to all

Not ferplast but Feberplast. Platforms from their Astro range are exactly the right size to fit. Spare platforms can also be obtained from Pennine at about £3.50 but they will charge you £5 postage if the order is under £20.

Most of my hammies are in these cages too, or the wilkinsons deluxe hamster cage which is very similar but has 2 platforms instead of 1.

Hi Pouchy Thanks that will come in handy if I wanted to put another level in Mya's cage at some point.

Hi Hamsterhaven wilko's deluxe cage one of our other hammies has one of those cages. Another one of our hams has the smaller version with one level i think the cage was about £16.99 Tochi seems to like his cage and spends most of the night either on his wheel or sitting on the level.
