Default Savic Plaza Review

I've had both a large female Syrian and a Russian Dwarf in this cage now (at different times).

Pros:

* Large size
* Deep base
* Large door
* Good ventilation

Cons:

* I found it fiddly to put together

* Not good if your hamster enjoys bar chewing like my previous Syrian

* I find it quite heavy

* Not good if you hate mess as hamster can kick bedding through bars and all over the floor

* I find the wire top part hard to get back onto the base properly it never wants to go back on straight!

It came with some accessories but the water bottle leaked, the stainless steel dish was too lightweight and it came with a hook which made it too high, a wheel that was too small for a Syrian...

I'd give it a 9/10 one less due to the annoying wire part being annoying to get into the base.

Excellent review. I think all cages have their niggles. I've found that when a cage has a large front opening door you hardly ever need to take the top bars off anyway You can do most things through the large door. The accessories with cages are rubbish sometimes! I had the same water bottle and stainless steel dish with a savic cage and they were no good either. But bottles are a whole subject on their own lol!

The only cages I've had where substrate doesn't come out through the bars are the ones with 7mm bar spacing. Would have been nice if the Savic Plaza had had 7mm bar spacing but I guess you can't have everything! The shelf is a good size.

Yes the large door is main thing that sold me onto getting this cage! I just purchased a flight cage for my budgies and the small doors are a total nightmare. They need to have people with experience design these cages!!

Great review mehrfarbig. We have the Savic Plaza for our syrian girl. The front door is a great feature and size is good. We had the Savic Ruffy before and am glad we upgraded to a larger cage. We don't mind substrate being kicked out through the wires, it makes me smile

You could always stick some perspex inside the bars about 2" up You can get pieces cut to size but I found it worked out a bit expensive. Or cardboard but you can't see through it
