Default I think my hamsters pregnant help!!

Hi everyone,
My name is aimee, I'm from london and a loving hamster owner. At the moment I own two girl hamster one called honey and one called angel.
I woke up this morning to honey going absolutely crazy trying to make a nesting area in her tube. I bought her from a pet shop so I'm not sure if she has had any contact with a male.
Her belly has got bigger since I got her but I'm not sure if that points to pregnancy or just the fact that she is growing.

She is around 7-8 weeks now and I was just looking for someone with experience to help me decide whether she is or not.

I'm assuming they are dwarf hamsters living together? Because Syrians should never live together. Or do you have two hamsters in different cages?

Different situation if they are living together as a pair or if you have one female hamster in a cage. Simple answer is it is possible she is pregnant. Longer answer is - if they are a pair living together then the other one may not be female. And also that pairs can fall out and get territorial which can lead to fighting or dominance (another reason one may get bigger as taking most of the food and possibly claiming the tube as her own - territorial behaviour).

So keep a close eye for any squabbles if they are living together as it can lead to serious injury or worse if they start to fight. I'll wait and see what the situation is with housing before saying any more.

Reading your post again you said "her" tube so I'm guessing you had Angel already and Honey is a new baby hamster in her own cage, is that right?

If they are in the same cage i would separate imediately. Keeping hamsters together is not for an inexperienced owner.

For the "pregnant" one just assume that she is and give her lots of protein and give lots of shredded unscented toilet paper. Also you could ad a hide, you can even make that out of a cardboard box.

Can you give us a pic of the enclosure/s?

Thanks for getting back to me we got them both at the same time but they are in different cages because they are syrian hamsters.*

Angel is absolutely fine I'm just worried about Honey.*
I have been keeping an eye on her and she has been showing signs of pregnancy such as nesting hoarding food and her nipples have darken alot and become for clearer she has gained weight but I didnt know if that was just because she was eating a lot or because she us growing because she is only still young.*
I got her from pets at home. I'm not sure whether they might of put her together with a male or not. So I am a bit baffled. I have never dealt with a pregnant* hamster before so I'm a bit worried.*
I also hear that hamsters season ever 4 days would the list of things I mention be a part of that.

Thank you so much for you help it really does mean a* lot*
