Arrow London breeders & and travelling with baby hamster

Hi, I’m currently looking into getting a winter white marble or pearl hamster. I’m based in London and it seems that a lot of breeders are based much more further out. I’ve messaged one known breeder in the outskirts of London in Borehamwood but didn’t get a reply, I’m not even sure If she breeds anymore. Does anyone know of some trusty breeder within London/Kent area?

I did reach out to one of the breeders in Gloucester and I got one hamster reserved to possibly pick up in 10 days but I’m a bit worried about 3h car journey each way and how the hamster baby will deal with it, considering the heat and some possible unforeseen circumstances on the long way back.

Please let me know If you know any trustworthy breeders in the London area!

You must mean Tuftyfluffs in Borehamwood. My current boy Syrian came from her. She certainly bred winter whites for a while but I am uncertain if she is still doing so.
I don't think Kent has a breeder. The list of breeders can be found on the National Hamster Club's website or the Southern HC.
If you want to reserve and collect from a breeder, that is not a problem for travel. Taking a hamster to and from a hamster show often involves lengthy travel. Just have a good travel carrier with substrate deep enough to bury in and have a chunk of cucumber in there instead of water. Chances are the baby will dig in and settle down and sleep most of the time. If the cage is all set up at home, then when you transfer the little one, just sprinkle the substrate from the carrier around the house area where you expect the nest to be made. Also tear up some pieces of plain white toilet tissue that you have worn for a couple of hours next to your skin and let that be gathered up by the baby to make a nest with. And it will have your scent on it for familiarisation.
Sorry if all this is known to to you already.

Yes, thats the breeder I messaged as well - wasn’t sure If she is still breeding since a lot of posts regarding her was from good couple years ago so thank you for reassuring me. I do hope she will reply soon.

The breeder that I currently have reserved hammy in Gloucester is from NHC yes. I do have a carrier already and cage is almost set up (just waiting for ordered bedding and couple toys). Thank you for the tip regarding scent - I will definately do that. Also putting things in perspective of travelling to hamster shows (which I didn’t think of) it does make me a bit calmer.

Tuftyfluffs no longer breed Winter Whites I’m afraid but I think she might have some Campbells available if you’ve not already got your heart set on a Winter White. The best way of getting in touch with her is via her Facebook group as I know her website has not been updated for quite some time. You can find her group here: https://m.facebook.com/groups/661280893968939/

There aren’t any Winter White breeders in London or Kent at the moment but The Southern Hamster Club will be holding a show in Bracknell on 14th September where you could arrange to pick up a hamster from a club breeder. I don’t know if the breeder in Gloucester will be there but other Winter White breeders usually attend the show.

If you do decide to get your hamster from the breeder in Gloucester then don’t worry too much about the journey. Most breeder hamsters seem to cope well with the journey and many just go to sleep... I took a group of five 8 week old Chinese on a 7 hour journey to Sheffield from Bath last year and they were fine and Juno, who was one of my previous hamsters travelled all the way over from Denmark. The thing to remember is to bring a suitable carrier that isn’t too big, some cucumber chunks for moisture and not to leave them unattended in your car, particularly if it’s sunny or warm.
