multiple heat cycles/14 days pregnant
This is my first time breeding, so I have not yet experienced a hamster pregnancy but from research before getting my breeding pair I read that hamsters usually start showing around 14 days, Mocha my female has reached that today after her first mating. she was around my male 3 days after the mating as she went into heat but nothing came of it and I separated after 5 minutes, they have not been together since. I have noticed some growth, but as I have never owned a pregnant hamster and after looking at multiple pictures of others hamsters at 14 days pregnant, she does not seem to match what I have seen online. What has been confusing to me is that she has gone into "heat" almost every couple of days. She has her setup relatively close to the males so maybe his scent is making her act this way, she freezes and lets off an odour when I run my finger along her back, sometimes this has happened days in a row. I plan on waiting till Friday (16th day mark) to see if anything happens, if not should I take her to the vet to see whats going on? behavioural wise, I have not noticed any difference, she is not aggressive, she has a nest but I haven't noticed nesting behaviour any different than before being bred. I have attached pictures of her. I would love some advice from people who have been breeding and experienced something like this. When should I breed her again after the 16 days, or is it best to not use her for breeding? I am always willing to learn more as I believe you can truly never learn too much I would like the best for my hamsters! thanks
*sorry for poor quality she is super fast lol. from the picture her sides look larger, but when I gently run my hands along her sides there are no bumps it feels fairly flat, she is a long hair so its hard to tell, her nipples also are no different from when I first got her*

Re: multiple heat cycles/14 days pregnant
It usually takes longer than 5 mins - more like 20-25mins to get a successful mating. If you can't feel bulges she is likely not pregnant. Sometimes mating does upset the cycle and they can go off schedule for a bit.
As you are doing wait it out till 17 days just in case.
There is no reason to wait after a failed mating or to assume she is not fertile. I think on average we usually have about 3 matings before they catch. Obviously if you are trying about 7 or 8 times there may be an issue and you may want to try another male.
What age is she? Try increasing dark green foods for both male and female and feed her bean sprouts as these can help fertility, otherwise a healthy varied diet and a normal routine. Try mating at different times of day as well as they are only fertile during a few hours mid heat. She may not stand but smell at 10 pm but she may well stand if you try at 1am for example

It was only 5 minutes because the male was very uninterested and I did not want a fight to start as she seemed to be uninterested after as well. The first time mating I thought was successful, which was now 15 days ago. It went on for almost an hour before he was uninterested. She is just 4 months old and a week. I will try the dark green foods, I often find at night she will be more willing to mate , during the day I have never noticed her in heat.
Thanks for the help

Re: multiple heat cycles/14 days pregnant
Woke up this morning to see she had given birth to her pups! I will be posting many pictures once their eyes open She decided to build a new nest last night outside of her hut, I was worried this may stress her out not having the security of a hut as her nest is pretty open

That is good news. They often move the nest. Just leave her nice and quiet and let her do as she wishes. Ours always have open nests without houses
