Thanks for all your thoughts.

Sadly I had another Chinese hamster, Easton, have pregnancy difficulties. She delivered her pups, but I found them dead. Then she became swollen and unwell. Surgery revealed a ruptured uterus and retained pup so she was put to sleep under the anaesthetic to save suffering.

I've only had one mum die previously so two in one month is very unusual - and tough. I'm enjoying the pups I have but remembering these two poor girls.

I couldn't breed without having a good vet in my corner who is willing to try to save my girls, yet knows when the hardest decision is kindest. Having a solid vet fund is a must if you consider breeding hamsters - it's not all cute pups and £££ for rehoming.

So sorry to hear this - a very tough month. Poor hammies - pregnancy always has it's risks and it has been an unlucky time. Fingers crossed for lots of successful ones and good luck from now on.

Very sad news about Easton and her pups, especially losing her as well as the litter. Such a difficult month for your breeding programme, Vectis. May 2019 bring more successes like your robos.
